With the help of the Archives of U of Strathclyde we have obtained 2 photos

a) A portrait of Geo Moncur ...by Lafayette ... Copyright under discussion with V&A London (hence not displayed at this time)

b) A Strathclyde photo of Professors and students of the final year (all branches of Engineering) for the year 1928-29....the picture shown above

Professor Geo Moncur is in the Front row 3rd from the Right

(He was appointed Lecturer in 1905 and The First Professor of Civil Eng at the TECH in 1910/11

annd went on to edit the Glasgow Series of Textbooks on Civil Engineering until he retired in 1932 ..at which point there were approx 10 titles.... Prof oncur died in early 1946 age 78 at West Kilbride, Ayrshire)

Event in 2012

As 2012 marks the 125th Anniversary of the founding of the department it is proposed to hold a major event to mark the occassion
